A few of our favourite things in August

As everyone across the country adjusts to this different way of living, shopping locally and supporting small businesses has never been so important. Here’s our monthly round-up for some local attractions and some of our favourite places to visit in Cornwall for August.

Minack Theatre

One of my fondest childhood memories of living in Cornwall is going to the Minack Theatre, cut out of the cliffs and with the sea as a backdrop, it is an unbelievable experience. The Theatre has reopened but make sure you plan and book your visit. There are a number of events that they are running over the summer, including Storytelling Sessions for little ones and a number of theatrical productions.

St Michael’s Mount

Rising from the horizon, St Michael’s Mount is an iconic Cornish attraction. A family home for centuries, it is an island of myths and legends and a fun day out for all the family. You will need to pre-book your visit and time it with the tide.

Trebah Gardens

Trebah Gardens have now reopened, the magical botanical gardens are a real treat. From Rhododendron Valley to Koi Pool, from the Bamboozle Maze to Hydrangea Valley, the gardens are a beautiful sub-tropical paradise. Be sure to book your tickets.

New Yard Restaurant

Located on the Trelowarren Estate, New Yard Restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience, with creative and innovative menus and the warmest reception in beautiful surroundings. Over the summer they are offering evening meals, make sure you book your spot in advance.

Street food on the beach

A fantastic pop-up venue in Newquay, the Boathouse is open everyday with a selection of food trucks and vendors. So whether you want a waffle or some beautiful bundt cakes, mexican or pizza. Be sure to check out their facebook page for the latest line-ups and menus.

National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum has now reopened in Falmouth and their current exhibition Monsters of the Deep explores the myths, legends and stories of the deepest depths of the ocean. All visits should be pre-booked and you can book your slot online.

Rogue Theatre Wonder Walks

The award-winning Cornish Theatre Company, Rogue Theatre returns this summer to Tehidy Woods, North Cliff with a fantastic new immersive theatrical experience. Wonder Walks will lead you on a wild trail through the woods with a series of wonderful stories and magical happenings on the way.
